Poland getting closer to Switzerland?

Over the past 30 years Poland has achieved extraordinary economic success. During this period, it has managed to triple the value of its economy. It also recorded one of the highest growth rates among the countries of the world. Moving closer to Western economies, which just a few years ago seemed unattainable.

According to Eurostat’s data, in the fourth quarter of 2023, Poland generated a GDP of €211.4 billion (211,367.5), almost as much as Switzerland (211,546.6). Poland’s total value of GDP generated in 2023 was EUR 749 billion (749,201), while Switzerland’s was EUR 818.5 billion (818,518.8). The gap between our economies is getting smaller and smaller. In 2023, it amounted to €69.5 billion, while in 2022 it was over €120 billion.

Our economic distance to the Netherlands – the European Union’s country closest to us in terms of GDP – is also narrowing. In the last quarter of 2023, the difference between the Dutch and Polish economies amounted to approx. €54.8 billion, while in the third quarter it was €66.8 billion. When it comes to the total result, it is also clear that the distance is getting reduced every year. In 2023, the difference in GDP amounted to approx. EUR 285 billion, while in 2022 it was approx. EUR 304 billion.
