American Boeing continues to invest in Poland
Boeing has launched a new investment under the name of, Boeing Engineering Poland and will employ several hundred more specialists in Poland who will work on civil and defence projects. New jobs will be created in Gdańsk, Rzeszów and Poznań.

The new venture is part of a larger investment by Boeing to advance structural, manufacturing, software and systems engineering. The company plans to create an engineering complex that will focus on advanced technologies and innovative solutions, supporting Boeing’s global operations in both the civilian and military sectors.
The American company fits perfectly into the strategy of technologically advanced foreign direct investment (FDI) in Poland.
A brief history of Boeing in Poland
Boeing started its operations in Poland in the early 90s of the twentieth century. The first step was to establish cooperation with the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Aviation in Warsaw, which took place in 1992. During this period, Boeing focused on the production of doors for Boeing 757 aircraft, which became one of the key projects during the transformation of Poland’s economy.
Boeing’s operation was preceded by LOT Polish Airlines’ first orders for the 767-200 and 767-300 models in 1989, which were delivered successively until the end of the 1990s. At that time, LOT became the first carrier in Central and Eastern Europe to operate Boeing aircraft.
Boeing in Poland
Currently, Boeing operates in several cities in Poland: Warsaw, Gdańsk, Rzeszów and Mielec, employing over 1100 people.
Boeing in Gdańsk deals with software development and engineering of communication and avionics systems. Navigational charts created at this division are used by nearly half of all Boeing users worldwide. Polish engineers also create software that helps to appropriately distribute the load in planes.
Boeing’s division in Rzeszów specializes in mechanical and electrical engineering, and also provides ongoing support for customers. Boeing’s distribution centre operating in Rzeszów is the second largest in Europe.
In Warsaw Boeing focuses mainly on production engineering and materials testing. Engineers in this department work closely with the Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation, implementing various research and development projects.
While in Mielec, Boeing operates as PZL Mielec and is the exclusive supplier of doors for the 757 passenger plane and also produces other, smaller components for Boeing.
