Chemicals
Production of chemicals and chemical products is one of the components of the chemical industry. It is one of the largest, key sectors of the entire Polish industry. It occupies one of the most important positions among the sectors of the Polish economy. Currently it produces products with a value of about PLN 328 billion, which constitutes 17.6% of the value of sold Polish industrial production. The chemical segment is one of the fastest growing areas of the Polish economy. The average annual growth rate of sold production of the chemical segment in 2011-2021 amounted to 4.5%.
The chemical industry is the third largest industrial sector in Poland in terms of employment. In 2021, it created 335,000 jobs, accounting for 12.3% of total employment in Polish industry. In 2021, the main export area of Polish Chemistry was EU countries, and the total value of exports to the EU amounted to over €31 billion. The value of exports to non-EU countries was approximately €10 billion. Poland’s main partners in this industry, in terms of value of exported goods, are Germany, the Czech Republic and Portugal. In 2021, exports of the industry accounted for 3% of Polish goods exports.
