Inauguration of the construction of the Poland Pavilion for the Expo 2025
On 8 August a ceremony was held on Yumeshima Island to hand over the plot of land and inaugurate the construction of the Poland Pavilion for the World Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. The world’s largest and most prestigious economic, cultural and tourism event will take place there next April.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the organising team at the Polish Investment and Trade Agency headed by Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Technology Jacek Tomczak, who is the Commissioner General of the Polish Section of the World Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, representatives of the Organiser, that is Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition, the Honorary Consul General of Poland, as well as representatives of the Polish Embassy in Tokyo and companies responsible for the construction of the Poland Pavilion.
The Poland Pavilion is the centrepiece of our country’s participation in the upcoming World Exposition. For six months, it will serve as a centre for showcasing Poland’s economy, innovation, culture and heritage that drives the future. – said Deputy Minister Tomczak at the ceremony.
The Commissioner General emphasised the mutual trust between the Organiser, the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition, and Poland, an official participant:
Our cooperation is going well. We know that we can count on the support of the Organiser because we share a common goal – to organise an event that will be an experience for visitors and that will have a positive impact on future generations.
Poland’s participation in Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan is comprehensive and involves the promotion of economy, culture, science and tourism.
Experts with a wealth of experience, also gained at previous Expos, are engaged in the creation of the Poland Pavilion and in the implementation of the economic and cultural promotion programme. We are acting at a fast pace, as we have a clearly defined vision and plan for the entire project

The construction of the Poland Pavilion is being carried out by a consortium composed of FINASI SPI JV TURNKEY PROJECTS CONTRACTING – FZCO, Nagashima Co., Ltd. and JSC Corporation. Representatives of the consortium are ready to start work and emphasise that the building will be completed on schedule, that is in February 2025, after which the interior fit-out and placing art installations will begin. The Poland Pavilion will receive visitors on the opening day of the World Expo, 13 April 2025.
Our preparatory work began as soon as we signed the contract with PAIH. Many structural elements and the building’s wooden façade are being built in separate locations, allowing us to increase the pace of the work

The Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH) is responsible for the implementation of Poland’s participation in Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan with the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology as the supervising institution.
Poland Pavilion
The arena for Poland’s presentation at the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan will be a national pavilion of nearly 1,000 m². Its shape is to evoke the association of the spreading wave of creativity and innovation of the Poles. The architectural concept is based on the use of wood, sustainable building material. The expressive façade, which will be built using the traditional “Kigumi Koho” wood joining technique, is a tribute to Polish and Japanese traditional architecture.
The Poland Pavilion will be located in the “Saving Lives” thematic zone. The corner plot, on which the Pavilion will be erected, is an additional advantage: the Poland Pavilion will be visible from all sides, allowing visitors to the Exposition to enjoy its attractive architecture from different perspectives.
Polish-Spanish duo Alicja Kubicka and Borja Martínez – Interplay Architects, supported by Japanese studio Komy Studio, are responsible for preparing the architectural concept. The concept and design of the Poland Pavilion exhibition were created by Monika Brauntsch (KAFTI), Ewa Kierklo and Stanisław Kempa (GDYBY) and Wiesław Bartkowski, who are working with Masaki Suzuki Architects and Studio Wasabi Architecture in Japan.

Poland, by opting for the so-called type-A pavilion, a self-built, free-standing pavilion, is among the elite participants in the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.
Poland. Heritage that drives the future
Poland will be presented as a country whose main resource is its people: creative, open-minded, educated, inventive, courageous in their thoughts and actions. The slogan for Poland’s participation in the Expo is “Poland. Heritage that drives the future”. Poles are reaching back to their heritage, which inspires them to seek new answers to the challenges of the modern world.
Passed down through generations, the “creativity gene” of Poles makes it possible to act for a better future, supports flexibility in the face of unexpected global changes, and is a force that generates new ideas for technological and social solutions.
Polish mural in Osaka
Along with the inauguration of the construction of the Poland Pavilion, a special mural designed by Polish artist Aleksandra Czudżak was completed. The creation of the mural in Osaka is an expression of the unique Polish-Japanese relations and the bond between the two countries. The mural is also intended to encourage Osaka residents to visit the Poland Pavilion, while also showing another, lesser-known dimension of Polish culture. The mural is located in the Konohana district, near Yumeshima Island.
