The Pharmaceutical & Medical Devices sector – a PAIH report

According to the Polish Investment and Trade Agency’s quarterly report, published at the end of June entitled “The Pharmaceutical & Medical Devices Sector”, the value of exports of products from the pharmaceutical and medical devices industry increased by over 50%. According to PAIH’s analysts, the value of exports in 2022 was three times the export value of medical equipment in 2016.

The Polish Investment and Trade Agency’s (PAIH)quarterly report published in  English are an important source of knowledge on the situation of 15 sectors of the Polish economy. According to The Pharmaceutical & Medical Devices Sector report, the value of exports of the pharmaceutical and medical device industry in 2022 reached € 4.4 billion.

Among the main recipients of products of the Polish medical equipment industry were, among others, Germany, the  US and France. The value of exports to these countries amounted to € 993, 932 million and € 317 million, respectively. According to PAIH’s analysts, from 2016 to 2022 the export value of the above-mentioned products tripled.

The Agency’s experts also drew attention to the important role of startups in the development of the industry. According to estimates, 13% of startups registered in the country, are innovators from the pharmaceutical and medical device industry.
