A growing demand for Polish apples

According to available data, in September and October 2023, the total export of Polish apples increased by 4.7% compared to the same period a year ago. First of all, the supply of these fruit to India has increased. At the same time, due to an increase in prices, a decrease in shipments to Belarus and Egypt was observed.

According to the information provided by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, from January to September 2023, Poland exported 577,238 tonnes of apples with a total value of EUR 279,570,000. In the same period of 2022, it was 494,928 tonnes with a value of EUR 208,363,000.

Exports in December

In December 2023 Poland exported apples to 28 countries outside the European Union. According to the Association of Fruit Growers of the Republic of Poland, the total amount of fruit sold to these countries amounted to 25,392 tonnes. It should be noted, however, that this number is lower than a year earlier. In December 2022, Poland sold 29,530 tonnes of apples abroad.

Egypt is still the dominant market for Polish apples, where over 4,600  tonnes of this fruit was sold. Slightly less, i.e. 4,000 tonnes, were sent to India. Kazakhstan was in third place, with 3.900 tonnes. The next positions were taken by Jordan and Mongolia – 2,000 and 1,600 thousand tons, respectively.
